GOD'S FAITHFULNESS! JULY 2010
Remember, God is Faithful and He is excited about you! As I was getting settled here in Abilene, I still had about 14 feet of stuff back in Ohio. Not real sure how I was going to get those things here to Texas! I have looked at several options. After visiting with Brother Darrick Hostetler, we were looking into some delivery companies coming into Texas. About a week ago, I received a text from another company there in Holmes County about a delivery they have for the region north of Dallas, which would be a little over 3 hours from me. They would have some room on the truck to bring the rest of my things to Texas! Praise God forever!! So, the text came on a Tuesday, by Wednesday morning, I had a list of the items, and by that afternoon, they were on the truck heading to Texas! They arrived about noon on Friday, and about 2pm, I was heading back to Abilene with the Penske Truck loaded with my things! What a blessing! Thank you Jesus for you continued faithfulness and grace in our lives! I want to thank all the guys that had a part in that last minute opportunity!! Darrick, Neal, Chris, Levi, Kevin and Lincoln; and of course Dave Mishler and his team/staff! What a blessing!! Thanks a lot guys!! And may God's continued grace and favor rest upon you all in a mighty as you seek to do His will. And give you peace!
BECAUSE OF HIM! LEONARD
"And if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath." (Matthew 12:7-8, ESV)
Religion can be an ugly thing. In fact, being religious can make us ugly people. And being religious can often lead us away from God rather than to Him.
This is exactly what Jesus encountered with the religious leaders of His day. They were a group who didn't like the way Jesus did things because He didn't follow their religious customs. These religious leaders were arrogant, selfish and insensitive to the needs of others.
In one particular incident where Jesus and His disciples had a run-in with them, the religious leaders accused the disciples of breaking the law and condemned them. Jesus responded by quoting a verse from the Old Testament, "I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices." Jesus reminded them that mercy is more important than religion.
In other words, how you treat people is of greater concern than religious duties. You see, the religious leaders had a heart problem. They were quick to judge and condemn people and failed to show mercy, love and forgiveness. They placed a higher importance on following religious traditions than on being compassionate.
So how about you? Where's your heart? Are you more concerned about showing mercy or following the rules? Do you care about a person or just about their outward actions?

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl, Instead they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." -Matthew 5:14-16
Through our lives people learn the message of the Gospel. If what we say and what we do don't match up, we create confusion and cause people to reject the message.
The one thing that is central to the message of the Gospel is the one thing that we seem to forget so easily- Our lives are the Message.
May God be with you as you continue to apply the word to your everyday lives, that people may see the light through you!

A couple months ago I had a good discussion with a friend of mine,
We were talking about the differences in Church's and how people can't relate to others because of religion.
It divides us as Christians way to much. I mean we are called to all be a part of the Body of Christ right? How come religions become such a big part of our lives?
The only thing I seek after is to follow God with all my heart, to seek and learn straight from the word of God. I believe God places Pastor's and Leaders in our lives to teach us, share with us and to us help us understand God and His word.
But we also need to do our part and really find out, what do we really believe in? are we putting our faith in man or God?
Think about it..
